Well! I had quite the weekend! I took a weekend off from weddings to cover events at The Bore Music Festival in Hillsborough. Everyone there got treated to some amazing music on Friday night and then through the day Saturday. On Friday Willie Stratton just about stomped through the floors of the Anglican Church. It was a quaint, beautiful venue with astounding acoustics. You can treat yourself to a show there by following Eventide at St. Mary’s Anglican Church on Facebook to hear about upcoming shows. Fred Penner was there as well and doing what he does best – mingling with the crowds. Both days Jeff of Jeff’s Musical Car kept things moving smoothly for us and you can check out interviews with the musicians by following his page.
On Saturday everyone was fully entertained with bewitching music, a bouncy castle, food vendors and face painting. We lucked out and had beautiful weather to enjoy it all! Fred made sure to play as many fan favourites as he could and even slipped in a new song co-written with 4 year old Fenn earlier in the day. He has got to be the friendliest man alive! He went above and beyond to make sure everyone had the best time possible. That included staying after to take pictures with everyone who came and signing autographs. I think everyone felt like his best friend by the time they left! I’ve said it before and I’lll say it again. If you aren’t getting out to enjoy Maritime musicians you are REALLY missing out! When it comes to local events and venues we lose what we don’t support so get out there!
